What is Math Kangaroo?
  • An annual international math competition for grades 1-12 (March 19, 2026)

  • Best for students who enjoy logic-based problems and want to improve their critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a fun, low-pressure competition (i.e. the math is in line with their grade level, not any more advanced, but in the form of brain teasers)

  • The exam is a 75 minute multiple-choice test.

    • 24 questions for students in grades 1-4

    • 30 questions for students in grades 5 and higher

  • Huntington Elk Grove is hosting for the Elk Grove / Sacramento area for 2026

How to sign up?
  • Early bird register by Dec 31, 2025 for $18 per student

    • Dec 31 - Feb 1, register for $35

  • Registration includes a t-shirt, certificate, and a gift!

  • You do need to create a log in (sorry, they are great in math, but not so good in user-friendly web design)

  • Please indicate any accommodation requests on the registration page. (Math Kangaroo will contact parents/guardians in Feb for proof of IEP.)

How to prepare for it?
What do I win?
  • Although the competition focuses on learning fun math, it is STILL a competition!

  • Prizes will be awarded to students with the top 20 scores in their grade (nationally) and top 3 scorers in their state.

  • More about this year's prizes here

  • Last year, there were 6 top scoring students in Elk Grove, CA!
