Homework help can mean many things to people. Some view it as just another person, be it an adult or classmate or older sibling, that supervises a student working on their homework to completion. At Huntington, we integrate multiple components into our homework help.
50% of successful homework is executive functioning skills. We work with our students to prioritize their homework, budget time, ask questions, set project milestones, and plan due dates. These are skills that students carry with them all the way through school to career!
Does your student know how to study? This is a lost skill rarely taught in schools any more. Even the best students may not know how to study properly. At Huntington, this is an area we can work on with your student, often in conjunction with test-taking skills.
We do not offer homework help as a standalone service because we recognize that students who struggle with homework typically are missing skills or have gaps in their understanding. We don’t believe the focus should be on homework - our focus starts with building foundational skills and filling skill gaps first. Homework help is offered as a supplemental service as a result.
